What’s the first thing that pops into your head when you think of Saturday morning cartoons? Sugary cereal? Eyes glazing over? For Syracuse artist Tré Blackwell, the TV shows of his youth sparked inspiration for his piece “Black Cartoon Reunion,” where the illustrator deftly assembled his favorite characters — all in witty relation to one another — for last year’s Black History Month. “I wanted to do something different for the month, and I thought, ‘What better way to commemorate it than by weaving together all of my favorite cartoon stories?’” he explains.
